Assegnati i prestigiosi Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2019 conferiti ai migliori compositori e autori musicali in ambito cinematografico e televisivo. Questo recente riconoscimento, inaugurato solo nel 2014, sta acquisendo un ruolo significativo nell’ambito dell’award season considerando che lo scorso anno due verdetti chiave sono stati poi confermati dagli Academy Awards: il vincitore della miglior colonna sonora per la categoria Sci/Fi Fantasy (Ludwig Goransson per Black Panther) e i vincitori del premio per la miglior canzone originale per un film, il team di autori di Shallow per A star is born, cantata da Lady Gaga, hanno infatti vinto sia l’HMMA Award che l’Oscar per questa categoria.
Al di là della convergenza dei verdetti, questo premio ci consente comunque di capire quali sono le colonne sonore e le canzoni originali più apprezzate che saranno prese in considerazione dagli addetti del settore per la loro competizione agli Oscars 2020. Tenendo bene a mente che sono 15 le categorie cinematografiche (variabili a seconda dell’offerta della stagione cinematografica/televisiva): miglior colonna sonora (film, Sci/Fi Fantasy, Horror, independent film, animated film, documentary, short animated), miglior canzone originale (film, animated film, documentary, short), best soundtrack album, best song/score trailer, best oustanding music supervision, best music documentarty/special program.
Quest’anno c’è stata un’equa ripartizione nella distribuzione dei premi che comunque ci consente di individuare i potenziali candidati agli Oscar nelle categorie miglior colonna sonora e miglior canzone originale.
Per quanto la prima categoria Original Score verdetti confermati nella sezione Horror Film laddove ha vinto Michael Abels per Us e nella sezione Sci-Fi/Fantasy dove ha vinto Alan Silvestri per il film Avengers: End Game, mentre nella sezione Feature Film c’è stato un ex aequo tra Joker (Hildur Guonadottir) e Ford v Ferrari (Le Mans 66′ – La Grande Sfida) (Marco Beltrami, Buck Sanders).
Tra i vincitori delle varie sezioni relative alla miglior canzone originale spicca Stand Up dal biopic Harriet interpretata dall’attrice protagonista Cynthia Erivo e composta a quattro mani con Joshuah Brian Campbell. Verdetto che lascia ben sperare in vista degli Oscars 2020 per quanto riguarda la categoria best original song.
