Dopo i Gotham Awards che hanno visto trionfare a sorpresa A different man nella categoria Miglior film, e le nominations ai British Independent Film Awards laddove parte favorito Kneecap, il film scelto dall’Irlanda per la competizione internazionale dei prossimi Oscar, è il momento di un altro premio cinematografico dedicato al cinema indipendente, i Film Independent Spirit Awards.
STATISTICHE AWARDS SEASON
Anche se la convergenza con gli Oscar è decisamente bassa dato che su 39 edizioni solo 8 volte il vincitore del Miglior film ha vinto l’ambita statuetta nella categoria Best Picture: Platoon (1987), The Artist (2012), 12 anni schiavo (2014), Birdman (2015), Il caso Spotilight (2016), Moonlight (2017), Nomadland (2020), Everything Everywhere All At Once (2023), essi restano dei riconoscimenti importanti perché consentono di capire quali film indipendenti hanno più chance di entrare nella corsa agli Oscar. In compenso ben 21 volte il vincitore dell’Independent Spirit Award come Miglior film ha conquistato successivamente la candidatura all’Oscar.
