In particolare il premio come miglior sceneggiatura originale e quello per la miglior sceneggiatura non originale nel campo cinematografico sono particolarmente importanti perché anticipano i gusti degli Academy Awards nelle medesime categorie. Da questo punto di vista sono considerati i “Golden Globe” della categoria miglior sceneggiatura, anche perché la maggior parte dei giurati sono anche membri degli Oscar.
